Hither's a link to an aftermarket Pop&Lock instal. This should show yous how to remove the tailgate cover. The clip which works from the latch may accept come off or become broken. Have the back off and have a look, and take/post some pictures of what you observe.

  3. My '93 has had an issue with the tailgate latches likewise. Get-go, remove the comprehend, similar to Highland Logan's link. The mechanism is very like to mine. Next, use a lock lubricant spray with graphite and lube the sliding latches on left and correct side of the tailgate very liberally, then practise the same to the mechanism at the heart of the gate. Those outer latches slide in a tunnel and so spray both ends of the tunnel with the moving strikers at both extremes of travel. This got me working over again but a few weeks later had to open up it again. This fourth dimension later the lubing, I added a tension spring to i leg of the middle mechanism to assist it return. The spring was most pencil diameter and approx 2" long and used heavy wire to secure it's ends. The latch pulls slightly stiffer now, but always latches.
In my case, probably father time, and dust, working against the mechanism.
    All-time of luck.
  4. Thanks for the assistance. I found that that the problem is a homemade "fix". I lubed the problematic latch, and found it was working properly. I followed the heavy gauge wire and institute that information technology'south too loose and then that when the handle is released information technology doesn't close the latch. I got it working for now, but it looks like I'll be replacing the handle itself soon.

This is how the within of the handle should look:

Unfortunately, this is how it does look:

    Thank you again!

  5. Ahhhhh yes. You are missing that lil', red, doofremus-hemus that holds the rod finish. Perhaps someone else was in in that location beginning and damaged the link or but lost it out of carelessness. Hope the new machinery isn't very pricey.
  6. I had 1 break on my Tundy'due south tailgate. I was able to rednek set information technology with only a few zip ties. I was going to get a new one but information technology'southward been working for almost two years now.
  7. I merely bankrupt one of those, everyone know what it is chosen so I can become a new one? Link?
